Mahendra Gokal also known as Metro is an Asian Toastmaster and Master of Ceremonies . He has a warm and friendly personality and has been personally trained by Peter York, Founder & President of the Executive Guild of Toastmasters and Town Criers.
Although based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, Metro is happy to travel to any location. He offers his clients a friendly and professional service with a flexible approach to make any occasion extra special and memorable.
He also knows the customs and traditions of Hindu, Sikh and Muslim weddings and can converse in dialects such as Gujerati, Hindi ,and a good understanding of Punjabi and Urdu.

We first came across Mike via Nonsuch Mansion who highly recommended him to us and we soon realised after our first meeting with him, that he was the final piece of the wedding that was missing. We felt that we had everything in place for the day but we needed somebody that could bring the whole day together to help it all run smoothly and on time, and that’s where Mike fitted in perfectly. He arrived at our home to meet both of us and our parents, and we instantly felt more relaxed, and we knew we were in good hands, and he really took the time and effort to get to know us as a couple and run through our day with us in fine detail. As my family come from Goa, there were certain traditions that my parents wanted to be included in the day somehow, and Mike found ways to make all of this happen by patiently taking note of all our needs and coming up with solutions. After he left, we felt so much better and suddenly it felt as though all the months of planning were now a reality and we could actually visualise the whole wedding.
In the final weeks running up to the wedding day Mike always checked in and even took the time to meet at the venue to run through things and walk the day through, and he was very organised, professional, and patient through all meetings. When the big day arrived and we were on our way to Nonsuch from the church just seeing him greeting guests and making sure everybody was happy just relaxed us even more and we knew that the reception was in perfect hands, and all that was needed now was a glass of champagne in our hands!
We had no problems at all on our wedding day, everything just fell into place and was held together wonderfully by Mike who took the pressure off all of the ushers, bridesmaids etc and did his job fantastically. The only problem we had was that the day just went too fast! From the speeches, to throwing the bouquet, to the first dance and all the other touches along the way he really gave our wedding that extra special feel and that was all down to his relaxed, and cheerful personality. We had so many comments about him after the wedding day and our guests loved him being there on hand to ask anything at all. He delivered a beautiful speech in the evening to kick off the speech section of the wedding, and it was a lovely gesture to us both which we won’t forget.
I would say to any couple that are planning their weddings, a toastmaster is a lovely touch to your day, they take the day out of your hands, stop you worrying about the little details, and allow you to sit back and enjoy your day to the fullest. I assure you that a glimpse of Mike smiling in his fantastic suit will calm you even when your dad is singing during his speech!
We would recommend Mike to anybody looking to hire a toastmaster, to us he was Mike the hero and our day was perfect thanks to him.

Before the wedding I always just assumed a Toastmaster would turn up towards the end of the meal at a wedding to announce the speeches, and if I’m honest was initially a little unsure about hiring one. However all I can say was that hiring Roy was probably the single most important thing in giving myself, my new wife, my best man and both sets of parents the most relaxed and stress free wedding I can imagine.

Roy takes all of the thinking out of the wedding day, having met with you beforehand to discuss what you want from the day and take the important details of any florists, cake people etc so that he can organise everything on the day. By the time I had arrived he had worked with the venue to ensure everything was set up, leaving me to just relax before the ceremony. This continued throughout the day with Roy taking care of everything. I can’t stress enough how much this takes the load off of everybody taking part in the wedding day. We were all relaxed and stress free all day, which meant we were able to just enjoy ourselves.
If Roy hadn’t been there to run things, it would have had to have been me, the best man or a parent trying to deal with everything, which is the last thing that you want. In short, Roy was absolutely brilliant on the day and well worth hiring. I’ve already recommended him to 2 other couples who are currently planning their wedding.

I was delighted that we had Roy Austin as the Toastmaster. He arrived early afternoon at the Guards Polo Ground. We had time to familiarise ourselves with the venue and the detailed programme. He made many helpful suggestions and helped me as the host to relax. When the event started early, we were ready to meet the guests and we kept to the timetable and our guests saw a seamless event. He worked tirelessly throughout the evening and was of the highest professional standard and should be highly recommended by the Guild of Toastmasters. Just wanted to say a huge thank you for being our toastmaster at Claire and Harry’s wedding. I don’t think most of our guests really knew quite what to expect from a toastmaster when I mentioned it a few months before the event but the extra you brought to this big day was fantastic. I had so many guests, friends and family approach me both during the day and since, that said how great you were and what a difference it made.
I’d like to also personally thank you for the bits you did during the hours before all the guests arrived at the venue, checking that everything was perfect and dealing so well with any issues that arose during the celebrations, leaving me to concentrate on staying nervous for my speech.
